Galaxy S2 Sets New Sales Record in Korea

Korean Galaxy S2 Sales Past the 1-Million Mark in 43 Days

… according to an article today in the Asia Economy (아시아경제: www.asiae.co.kr).  in Korea, which I’ve summed up below:

Samsung Electronics announced the Galaxy S2, its new Android superstar, has sold 1 million units within 43 days. This record is 1 month faster than the Galaxy S1, Samsung’s original flagship Android model (70 days), from which it also accepts the S1’s previous mantle of fastest-million-selling phone in Korea.

Specs of this beast:

1.2GHz dual-core CPU; 4.3-inch super AMOLED display; Downlod speeds of up to 21Mbps (based on HSPA+); NFC; full use of 8-megapixel camera (1080P); gyro-sensor for super-fine gaming control (eeehm, jury is still out on that one); 1650mAh battery, and so on.

Let’s also not forget the new Mali GPU that sits among the Galaxy’s circuitry, the only one on the market as of writing, which means some development tweaks for game developers to support ETC compression for 3D graphical assets.

Let’s hope people will start playing games on this phone to help the painful transition of mobile game developers in Korea from the declining WIPI-based feature phone market to Android and iOS.
